Day 1

Reception – Durban South Africa You will be met at the Durban International airport in Durban South Africa by your friendly AOT staff and enjoy a short transfer to the tranquil Shongweni Resort set in a nature reserve. Meet with the other riders and meet your tour leaders and hosts. The reception dinner will be a traditional South African “Braaivleis” (BBQ). Overnight accommodation is in comfortable traditional African Thatched Chalets.

Day 2

Shongweni  - Acclimatization Day. Breakfast at the resort. Spend a relaxing morning acclimatizing at the resort and enjoying the tranquil surroundings including swimming pool and other leisurely activities. Lunch at the resort followed by a leisurely 2 hour afternoon ride in the local valley to get you acclimatized and comfortable with the bikes and terrain. Relaxing bonfire dinner at the resort. Overnight in traditional African Thatched Chalets.

Day 3

Shongweni - Start the day with an early breakfast at the resort followed by a challenging 4-hour ride through the Shongweni Valley. Local Zulu tribesmen inhabit this valley, which is lush with vegetation and spectacular scenery. Enjoy close encounters with “Suicide Rock” and “Killer Train Falls”. After the ride enjoy a tasty late afternoon lunch at the resort, followed by a drive to the South Africa Lesotho border. Check into the world-renowned Sani Pass Hotel. Enjoy a spectacular full course dinner followed by a luxurious night in traditional African Thatched Chalets.

Day 4

Lesotho - Head out on the Roof of Africa Trail. Cross the border into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Local Basotho cattle and goat herders who spend their entire life at high altitude inhabit this area.  Ride up the legendary Sani Pass, which follows the deep valley incised by the Mkhomazana River to breast the summit 10,000ft, home to the "Highest Pub in Africa". After a stop for lunch at this rustic pub, depart for the quaint Oxbow Lodge for the overnight. Your rock riding skills will definitely improve after this day.

Day 5

Lesotho - After a hearty breakfast head back towards the Sani Pass with a stop at the breathtaking Edge of Africa Overlook. Included in this days riding are spectacular steep gorges with rocky river bed sections. Spend a leisurely afternoon and night at the Sani Pass Hotel. Play golf, go fly fishing or take a leisurely hike, horse ride or laze by the pool. 

Day 6

Safari Adventure - Early morning departure for local Safari Park for an afternoon LandRover Game Ride. See the legendary African Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and other wildlife. Relax at the spectacular rock pools. Overnight at the Rest Camp with traditional Bush Camp meal.

Day 7

Umgeni Valley - Intense ride in the Umgeni Valley, home of the Umgeni River and to many of the Zulu nation. This area is also known as the Valley of a Thousand Hills. Great riding on narrow trails and cattle paths, fast sweeping dirt roads, river crossings, and lots of ascents and descents. Lunch and refreshments at local shebeens (Zulu pubs). Overnight at the Shongweni Resort. 

Day 8

Umgeni Valley - Short morning ride with an optional Hare Scramble Competition in the Umgeni Valley. Lunch at the Shongweni Resort. Afternoon trip to Durban for shopping opportunities. Dinner at fine restaurant enjoying the Durban City Lights. Overnight at the Shongweni resort

Day 9

Departure - Awards ceremony. Final farewell to the group. Drop off at the Airport. Final Duty Free Shopping and depart for country of origin.
